Community-based project and exhibition
The Cut is a temporary exhibition that includes a participatory archaeological dig at 2B Karmelicka Street in Warsaw. The Cut was facilitated by artist Aslı Çavuşoğlu, and architects Małgorzata Kuciewicz and Simone De Iacobis. The Cut encouraged acts of remembrance through displaying and examining artifacts and historical objects, and specifically excavates piles of rubble from World War II that are dispersed around Warsaw, revealing the interconnection between urban space and historical violence. This public exhibition explores how archeology is used to establish national narratives, and critically asks who has the right to dictate such narrations.
